Half Marathon Recap


Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Amazing Half Marathon Weekend had a successful second year with more than 2,000 runners from all over the country participating in the half marathon, 10K, 5K and kids mini marathon. Some ambitious runners even conquered the Amazing Challenge by completing either the 5K and the 10K, or the 5K and the half marathon.

Here are some snapshots from our amazing weekend:

Dr. Shaun Kemmerly, Chief Medical Officer for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital kicked off the festivities on Saturday morning by providing a warm welcome and giving updates on the progress of the freestanding children’s hospital. Sister Uyen Vu led everyone in prayer before the races began. Kids’ Orchestra member Sydni Wheeler, sang the national anthem.

And they’re off! Kids’ mini marathon runners take off across the starting line.

Scott Wester, CEO at Our Lady of the Lake, kicked off Sunday’s 10K and half marathon with a welcome message. Grant Telhiard, Catholic High junior, led the crowd in prayer. Breann Burson, Zachary High senior, sang the national anthem.
